From the Governor: A Final Note

Cullen Tyndall, 2014-15 Governor

Carolinas Key Club Members,

The winds of change are in the air! Each spring, new Key Club officers are elected and the landscape of our organization shifts one year forward into the future. During this exciting time, it is important to make definitive goals that will guide your club into the 2015-2016 Key Club year. While every club is different, there are some universal themes that should always be at the forefront of your aspirations:

Grow your club: Visit your local middle schools and talk to upcoming freshmen about joining Key Club in the fall. Hold membership drives and grab everyone’s attention at your open house in August. Invite as many potential members to your first meeting as possible, and make your impression on them as soon as they walk in the door. A strong club begins with strong membership!

Do more service: Actively search for service opportunities for your club. Show your school that Key Club members are always active in their communities, and that they are willing to serve wherever there is a need. Raise money for the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, and consider visiting the campus with your club this year. As Key Club members, we should aim to live up to our motto: “Caring – Our Way of Life”

Get more involved: Use the 2015 Carolinas Key Club Fall Rally as a selling point to get new members to join your Key Club. Consider bringing a group of students to International Convention this June, and mark your calendars to attend District Convention in March! Encourage the potential leaders in your club to run for District or International Key Club positions. A future Key Club International President could be in your club, just waiting for your encouragement!

If you keep these overall goals in mind, your Key Club will be sure to prosper!

Like many club officers, the Carolinas Key Club District Board will also be retiring this month (at District Convention.) On behalf of the entire 2014-2015 Carolinas District Board, thank you for allowing us to serve you this year. I am looking forward to the bright future that all of YOU will bring to our District!

All the best,

Cullen B. Tyndall
