A message from your Carolinas District Governor, Rohith Chari, about his experience at the Boys and Girls Homes at Lake Waccamaw during the Christmas for Children celebration:
Last month, I traveled to the Boys and Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, our District Project, to take part in a Christmas celebration. I didn’t know what to expect; I just knew I was going to be helping deliver presents to the children who live on campus. What I found, in addition to an abundance of gifts, was a genuine Christmas experience. Parents, residents, staff, community volunteers, and civic club members came together to celebrate the season. We started the evening together with a Christmas feast before diving into festivities. Key Club members, dressed as elves, and Santa himself delivered presents to each of the Boys and Girls Homes cottages. I truly cannot explain the amazing feeling I got from giving gifts and smiles to the residents. I was blown away by their gratitude. For many of the children, this was their first Christmas and their first time receiving a gift.
Our Key Club Christmas for Children campaign helped purchase every gift these children received. This year, we raised over $13,000! I cannot say thank you enough for helping making this a memorable Christmas for the children at the Boys and Girls Homes. The donations and generosity of Key Club members, families, and friends all over our district made all the difference this holiday season. For that, I thank each of you, and I hope that you had a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
